Ragini’s style explores and fleshes out emotional and personal power within subtle moments. She often uses humour to explore the heart of a concept. Her films allow for the emergence of an underemphasized delight within heartbreak and sadness – with characters often channeling their inner strength and joy to break through moments of darkness.

The Comedy Doula
The Comedy Doula is a documentary film revealing the process and talent of comedian and teacher Janice Bannister, who takes her students from pencils to microphone in five short weeks.
The Comedy Doula was filmed live and unscripted during LaughterZone 101 stand-up comedy classes with new and repeat performers. It’s a rollercoaster of emotion, nerves, laughter, and learning as their coach, Janice Bannister, pushes them to deliver jokes through questioning themselves while revealing intimate secrets and sometimes painful truths.
This film is a brave documentary that shows how anyone can be empowered to be vulnerable in front of a room full of strangers and have “terrified fun” doing it. The Comedy Doula exemplifies that sometimes laughter is the best medicine.
